PSYCHO SOUL / DRAMATIC ORCHESTRAL SUITE - HARMONIC MOOD MUSIC (UK)

Well, I'm back with another rare UK library record that I believe isn't featured on any other blogs...I could be wrong, so don't send me hate mail if it's out there.

PSYCHO SOUL & DRAMATIC ORCHESTRAL SUITE was released by the UK based Harmonic Mood Music (Charles Brull) imprint. This rare gem features five different composers: Eugen Thomass, Hans Posegga, G. Koeck, and M. Belamaric. This team means business and blend it all, dark moody cinematic cues, classical cues and uptempo Hammond infused mayhem.

"DEVIL'S DREAM" sounds like a lost track from the mythical OST, Vampires of Dartmoor, and "TWISTED SOUL" is a heavy jazz-funk tune that's very reminiscent of Alan Hawkshaw's best work.

IVERIA

Here is a  true masterpiece I know many have been on the hunt for, and many more will grow to love.

The music is played by a seminal Georgian nine piece ensemble named Iveria.

This group was lead by Alexander Basilaia, an accomplished songwriter/composer of pop music, and film scores. Basilaia was trained as a contrabassist at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, and became active within the Soviet Georgian scene in 1963. In 1968 he founded this Vocal Instrumental Ensemble; Iveria which was named after an ancient Georgain Kingdom was lead by Basilaia from 1968 through their maistream success in the 1970's, then into the 1980's. Basilaia died of a severe disease on October 3, 2009.

Iveria relaeased six records on the Melodiya label, so be on the look out for more dopeness by this band. This LP explores many different styles of music and delivers a sophisticated fusion of folk, classical and HEVY fuzzed out psych-rock with excellent break-beats accenting the deep basslines. There's an amazing cover version of Uriah Heep's "Sunrise" that is not to be missed.

ORCHESTRE BERNARD WYSTERATE - HITS VARIETY

Great french pop album that features everyones favorite Beatnuts sample, "Daydream". This album features a few more decent cuts, so listen to the entire album before judging. Wysterate is joined by Pancho Vigon, a famous french vocalist featured on many french soul and beat ballads.

FRED BONNGUSTO - CONVIENE FAR BENE L'AMORE

Here's one of my favorite soundtracks by Fred Bongusto. This was scored for Pasquale Festa Campalies' italian erotic comedy film, "Conviene far Bene L'Amore" which was released in 1976.  The film's english translation is "Love and Energy".

The film takes place far in the future where all natural resources have been depleted and an alternative energy is desperately needed. Science then turns to the next most obvious alternative source of energy...orgasmic pleasure.  A scientist invents a machine that which harnesses orgasms, and then converts them into electrical energy.

Alfredo Bongusto was born on April 6th 1935 in Campobasso, a city and commune in southern italy. Bongusto is a prolific composer and has scored over 24 soundtracks. He was known as an "Intimist", and the song "Pensieri"accurately exemplifies this distinction. The strings float above the groove while the bass leads your thoughts along an erotic journey.

Bongusto began his musical career playing clubs in the early 60's. He also begins to publish his own music and is finally brought to the populace attention in 1964 when he composed a  popular television theme song, "Amore Fermati".  He would later score top charts in South America and Brazil, then eventually move into socialist politics in Italy.

Note: I only have one song from the album that's available. I sold this copy before I could finish ripping the entire album. Personally, I feel "Pensieri" is the best song from the album, but I suggest tracking down a copy if you're curious to hear the album in it's entirety.

SIGN OF AQUARIUS - Psych-Funk Soundtrack

More psych-funk madness on this great soundtrack. This looks and sounds like it was made in 1969, as the Hippie/LSD exploitation is in full effect. This soundtrack provides some dope tunes from some unknown talent ...Al Zbacnic, Tom Baker, Ed Golya, Jim Hughes & John Pappas.

LOS PEKENIKES

Here is a tight group from Spain. Los Pekenikes were formed in 1959 and were led by brothers Alfonso and Lucas Sainz. They performed your typical Spanish covers of American pop tunes. These guys were running the scene in Spain and were idolized for there fresh innovative arrangements that span a wide range of genres.

This is a 7 inch-single from their self-titled album released at the magical time of 1971. The main track is "TABASCO", this track is appropriately titled as they exhibit how hot they can get with their instruments.
